Greenville Farmers Market Returns for Spring Season

The Greenville Farmers Market is set to reopen this Saturday at Falls Park, marking the beginning of its 15th season. Over 40 local vendors will offer fresh produce, artisan goods, and prepared foods. "We've added 12 new vendors this year, including three organic farms from the upstate region," said Market Director Lisa Chen. The market runs every Saturday from 8 AM to noon through October. New this year is a dedicated kids' zone with educational activities about sustainable farming, and a food truck court featuring local restaurants.

Wildcats Take State Championship in Overtime Thriller

In what will go down as one of the greatest games in Greenville High history, the Wildcats defeated the Riverside Raiders 78-75 in overtime to claim the state basketball championship. Senior point guard Marcus Johnson hit a contested three-pointer with 2.3 seconds remaining in overtime to seal the victory. Johnson finished with 32 points and 8 assists. "These kids never gave up," said Coach Williams, fighting back tears. "They've worked for this moment for four years." The win marks Greenville High's first state championship since 2006.

Local Bakery Celebrates 50 Years in Business

Sweet Magnolia Bakery on Augusta Street is celebrating its 50th anniversary this week, making it one of the oldest continuously operating businesses in downtown Greenville. Founded in 1976 by Eleanor and James Patterson, the bakery has survived economic downturns, a devastating fire in 1994, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
